It is part of the Yum Balam Biosphere Reserve, Yalahau Lagoon. The island is located between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, with waters rich in fauna such as the whale shark, flamingos, giant manta rays, etc.

The beach of Isla Holbox is one of the most beautiful in Mexico, due to the fusion of colors caused by the crossing of the waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, Holbox enjoys a warm climate all year round and its sea is shallow with practically no waves, its sand is soft, the predominant vegetation is mangrove and some palms.
